OUR STORY

Paint Your Own Portrait was inspired by a group of high school teachers I work with in Newark, New Jersey who were so excited about the portraits  they were

painting they wanted others to enjoy the same experience.

One day, after being impressed by the shadow portraits my art students had created in class, a teacher asked if she could make one for herself.  Once she made her own, her reaction was "Wow, this is so easy!"  The word spread and soon the number of educators coming to my art room to paint grew.

As the portraits came to life, the excitement spread.  Other staff, family members, and friends wanted to partake in this relaxing and rewarding activity that was instilling so much joy.  The best part, as trumpeted by the teachers,

was how simple it was to achieve such amazing results.

The sentiment throughout the painting group was the same,

"I feel like a real artist; like Picasso himself."

Thus began the idea to share with others how to Paint Your Own Portrait

and discover your inner Picasso.
